EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: BRIAN LICHTENBERG!

Brian Lichtenberg with DAFT PUNK and their FEMBOTS
We all know Brian Lichtenberg to be one of the most creative, inspiring and original designers of our generation. If you don't, get with the times! BL is hitting the fashion world hard. M.I.A., Santogold, Peaches, Katie Perry, Beth Ditto of the Gossip, Milla Jovovich, Kid Sister, Nicole Richie, and Zac Efron have already been spotted rocking BL. I KNOW right! He's not playing around.

With no traces of slowing down Brian is currently living in Silverlake, CA and working on his Spring/Summer Collection to debut during LA Fashion Week in October. You'll stick around if you know what's good for you.

We asked Brian for an exclusive interview, and here's what happened...

1. So we all know and love BL, but we're dying to know how and where
you got started.

BL: I started sewing in high school when fashion design really sparked my
interest and I experimented with making clothing out of tyvek paper
envelopes.

2. There is so much originality in your work, what inspires this post
futuristic chic?

BL: My obsession with the future, electronic music and all things sci-fi
and fantasy. I grew up in the 80s so I was really influenced by movies
like Star Wars, Tron, and the Dark Crystal.

4. We have all seen celebrities rock BL, how did you establish this cool?

BL: Just a month after I started selling my clothing, 8 years ago, my first
celeb customer was Gwen Stefani. I think it helps to live in hollywood
the media capitol of the world

5. Describe your work in one word?

BL: itshardtodescribeitinjustoneword

6. What can we expect from BL in the near future?

BL: More collabos with musicians and also established clothing brands.

7. What is the piece of advice you would give to aspiring designers?

Make what you really want to make, you will be more respected for it.

8. Where can we pick up some BL?
